The long rumored extension of Andy Reid has officially been announced. A press conference has been called for 11:30 this morning at the NovaCare complex.
Plenty of people won't be thrilled with the idea, but you'll be stuck with Andy Reid and his throat-clearing for another 3 years.
To be honest, there isn’t much else to say about this. I've heard some clamoring that the Eagles should’ve waited till season's end to do this extension. "See how this year turns out first" they say. Well you know what I say? You're delusional if you didn’t think this was going to happen anyway. It's really of no news or concern to me if they do it now or later - it was happening regardless whether any of us approved or not.
What will be more interesting is the (likely?) possibility that those 3 years will be a McNabbless 3 years. It's still entirely possible the Eagles part ways with McNabb via a trade in the offseason. Donovan and his agent will not want to go into the last year of a contract and will ask the Eagles to extend him. It remains to be seen if the Eagles are willing to make the commitment.
If McNabb leaves, those 3 years will be the answer to the question fans have been asking for the last several seasons. Who is at fault for not getting this team over the hump and taking the final step to a Super Bowl victory - Andy or Donovan?
Who's side are you on?
