Cinco de Five-o: the Dump Donovan D-Day

Will he go? Will he stay? Will the Eagles keep Vick? Will Kolb live up to expectations? Will you find something or someone in life that brings you more joy than mercilessly criticizing the lives and decisions of millionaire athletes that don't even know you exist? WE FIND OUT!

Well...no we don't. But we can pretty much assume that the Eagles will make a decision on Donovan Mcnabb's future before 5/5/10, the day when Souphands will receive a $6.5 million roster bonus. And with the draft on April 22, the Birds have plenty of time before they have to show their hand. Keep your ocular balls on your calender. Cinco de Five-o.

Now, whether or not the Eagles will or even should trade Donovan F. remains to be seen. It was only seven months ago when McNabb signed his two-year, $24.5 million extension. Any good front office (or business for that matter) looks at things in a long-term sense; it was a good idea seven months ago...he had a Pro Bowl season...why break up now? Why not give him the last year you promised him? Why trade away (possibly) your best player for a fistful of shitty hopes and maybes?

In the end I'm just playing devil's advocate. While I've always supported Donovan McNabb when his critics attacked him and have always felt that Philadelphia was wild lucky to even have a QB of his caliber play here for as long as he has...the time just seems right.

We have a proven Pro Bowl QB and a fully-developed young talent with two promising starts and a full understanding of Reid's offense.  Teams need quarterbacks:  San Francisco, Buffalo, Washington, Denver, Oakland, Carolina, Cleveland, Minnesota(?), Arizona(?), etc.  The Eagles are the second youngest team in the league.  The young guys are more comfortable talking to Kevin Kolb than their established leader.  The Birds' brass loves stockpiling picks.  Someone leaked that the team is only 85% sure that he'll be on the team next year.  And lastly...and most importantly...the duel losses to the Cowboys are still raw for us as fans and we seek immediate change.  Like an angry mob we want the head of whoever was responsible for the meltdown of our once promising season -- and because Fat Andy has already signed his contract extension -- McNabb is the next logical choice.

Trust me, it's much harder to blame Sheldon Brown's randon-ass leg injuries than Soupy McVomit.

So yeah, trade him.  Fuck it.  Start the hog killer and let the dog killer get 10-20 snaps a game.  I honestly think it'll work -- especially if that fat, creepy (stoner?) weirdo Shawn Andrews comes back next year. The picks we get from McNabb can draft a lotta defense.

win it all.

Go Jets.
