Iverson Still In The Thanksgiving Spirit

As you’re all well aware of by now, former Sixer Allen Iverson has issued a statement announcing his retirement from the NBA.

In his statement, he did not fail to mention where he came from – his shout out to Philadelphia after the jump.

And finally, to the city of Philadelphia: I have wonderful memories of my days in a Sixers’ uniform. To Philly fans, thank you. Your voice will always be music to my ears. God Bless all of you. [the700level]

And thank you AI - you provided us with years of exciting basketball and entertainment. You wanted nothing more than to win and this city embraced and adored you for it. I will most certainly be in attendance at the Wachovia Center the night the Sixers decide to retire your number.

In related news, Stephen A. Smith is now reporting Allen Iverson is reconsidering retirement, citing sources close to Iverson saying he’s already had a change of heart. Can’t say I’m surprised, the retire/unretired flip flop is en vogue in sports right now.
