Michael Vick: Steroid User?

Everybody knows Michael Vick the dog killer. And marijuana user. And herpes sufferer.

Now we may be able to add another credit to Vicks name. The Dallas Morning News has reported that Plano steroids trafficker, David Jacobs, was Michael Vick's supplier of steroids and HGH when Vick was a member of the Atlanta Falcons.

Ed Block would’ve been proud.

Federal agents and prosecutors questioned Vick about steroids and human growth hormone while investigating his dog-fighting ring in 2007. Not suprisingly, Vick has denied everything.

Agents asked Vick about an alleged encounter at the Falcons' 2006 Christmas party. Details of that encounter relayed by an informant to the Drug Enforcement Administration are similar to what Jacobs told The News after he began cooperating with federal agents and NFL investigators. Vick was never implicated in the Jacobs steroids case.

And

Agents told Vick that a DEA informant said that Vick was talking about steroids and human growth hormone with someone at the Falcons party and that Vick was overheard saying he "liked his product."  [DMN]
So there you have it. This report never came out during the Vick's dog fighting investigation because at the time, Vick had not been confirmed to be involved in steroid accusations by investigators. This only surfaced yesterday due to open records requests by media outlets.

For what it's worth, any steroid/HGH investigation regarding Vick appears to be closed. Did he take them? Who knows. That info will likely never come out. But other NFL players (Matt Lehr, Ryan Fowler) were named in that document from 2007 and served NFL suspensions for violating the leagues' banned substance policy.  That has to at least give some merit to the accusations.

Jacobs was said to have run one of the largest doping networks in the country before his arrest. Oh, and he's also dead. In late 2008, Jacobs committed suicide. This was after he decided to shoot his girlfriend to death, of course. So I’ll leave it up to you to determine if what he says is true or not.

If nothing else, I'm just hoping nothing else comes out that'll hurt any type of trade value the Eagles have for Vick.
