NEWSFLASH: Iguodala Overrated

So I'm flipping through my latest issue of Sports Illustrated and I came across their latest "SI Player Poll." For those unfamiliar with this weekly feature, SI askes a group of players a question about their peers (i.e. "Whose the best?", "Biggest Cheater?", etc.). In this instance, SI polled 173 NBA players and asked them this simple question, "Who is the NBA's most overrated player?"

Take a guess which Sixers small forward ranked fourth in this poll? Need help? His name rhymes with Candre Miguodala.

That's right folks, Iggy's peers think he's overrated. And not only overrated, but the fourth most overrated player in the whole friggin' NBA. The only players receiving more votes than him were T-Mac, Danny Granger and LaMarcus Aldrige (in that order). Wow.

Now I must throw in the caveat that Iguodala received the same amount of votes as Mr. LeBron James, so take this poll with a large block of salt. However, it does say something that the players who face him on a day-to-day basis think he's not quite the player the national media or fans think he is.

Sixers fans, I know I'm not telling you anything you didn't already know. We all cringe at paying Iggy $56 million over the next four years. But a guy that can give you 18-6-5 most nights is valuable, even our disgruntled asses have to admit that. The problem is that it has become painfully obvious that Iggy is never going to make "that" jump and he's getting paid like he will. Perhaps he's not truly overrated in the purest form of word, but he's definitely not the player Ed Stefanski thought he was. And for Sixers fans, that's depressing.

But, again, I'm not telling you anything you didn't already know.

  1. im just tired of seeing him take the last shot. he's not really that kind of player. granted, the sixers dont have anybody that is 'that kind of player'. but they dont always have to draw the play up for iggy.
