Sixers To Lose Lou Williams, Inevitably Many More Games

Two Sixers posts in one day?? Either it’s your lucky day or I’m one of the unlucky souls who got stuck in the office on Black Friday with 8 hours to kill.

Anyway, bad news Sixer fans - Lou Williams, who broke his jaw Tuesday night against the Wizards, had surgery yesterday and will miss two months of basketball.

Prior to getting hurt, Williams was second on the team in points scored, assists, and steals. He also has the second best assist to turnover ratio on the team (which kind of surprised me… I didn’t realize he’s done a much better job protecting the ball in his expanded role this year).

Taking his place in the starting lineup will be 19 year old rookie Jrue Holiday. I really do like LouWill as a player, but this might actually be a blessing in disguise.

Let’s face it, the Sixers won’t be winning anything this year and this will be a good opportunity to get the inexperienced Holiday some minutes and accustomed to the NBA. There will be growing pains, but nobody’s watching the Sixers to take notice anyway.

Plus, it’s nice to have a true point guard bringing the ball up.
