Obligatory Tim Tebow Article

The McNabb era is over. Kevin Kolb is now the guy. But what happens if Kolb blows? There has to be some youngster waiting in the wings, right?

When Kolb takes on the role as 'starter', he vacates the title of 'QB of the future'. And who will step in to that roll?

Well, Sports Illustrated’s rotund football writer, Peter King, has an idea.

Tim Tebow of course! Here's a portion of what he had to say:

I have heard the Eagles will now focus on Tebow and are likely to join the parade of teams working him out and spending time with him. With seven picks in the first four rounds, Philadelphia has the ammo to go get the developmental quarterback Reid always likes to have on his roster. So don't think they won't be in play for one of these players. [the700level]

He'll be able to run the wildcat and everything!

But let me hit you with this disclaimer: Peter King is a fatso who tends to throw a lot of predictions out there and waits to see what sticks. Odds are this will never happen. Sorry to those of you (who may or may not be stupid) who are saddened by this revelation.

But just for fun, pretend this happened. Pretend Andy Reid got all juiced up on maple syrup and decided to use the newly acquired pick from McNabb’s departure on Tebow. What would you do? How would you react? Would you cry? Go into a rage? Grin from ear to ear in approval and excitement? Or would your brain just simply explode?

Personally, I would probably just laugh. Then wonder why we didn’t draft a safety there. Then laugh again. I'd be cool with it if it wasn't one of the second rounders - the Eagles have some serious defensive needs. And let's not mention that fact that I don’t know how long I could put up with the media spin of Tebow's holiness versus Mike Vick's satanism.

Besides, why would we draft Tebow? We already have a Pro Bowl fullback.

OH NO HE DIDN'T!

[Ok, just kidding. I have a sneaky suspicion Tebow is going to prove people wrong and be a decent player. Don't know why. All that good Karma has to account for something though. ]

  1. I wouldn't mind drafting Tebow, but only if we used a third rounder to do so. I agree, there are other pressing needs on this team and I want copious amounts of defensive players with our 465 picks we have in this year's draft. I think it's safe to say that if Kolb sucks, we're going to be in trouble for a few years.

Also, I agree that Tebow will be a good player. Maybe like a Mark Brunell type, a good, but never great guy who just seems to win.

  2. I don't know how people make such a big deal? Since when did mechanics have anything to do with how an athlete performs? So what if he doesnt throw like everyone in the NFL? Rivers has a great throw which is basically side-armed sometimes, in the MLB, players stand in many crazy ways, in the NBA, nobody complains about the hundreds of different jumpshots. Tebow has different form, but in his college career

9,825 passing yards (358 of them his freshman year as a no starter)

88 touchdowns (Throwing. 5 of them in his freshman year, so 83 as a starter)

    Only 16 Interceptions.

    2,947 RUSHING YARDS

57 rushing Touchdowns, (8 his freshman year)

I think as long as he did what he did last year, and guaranteed not to lose a game for the rest of the year, the Eagles would win the Superbowl? Correct...?

But seriously, you could draft worse QBs then Tebow, he is a winner, a leader, a good guy, and most of all. MARKETABLE. Jerseys would sell, Eagles would make news much more often.

You could do worse, and you couldn't do much better.
